Add Your Gmail Account in Microsoft Outlook 2007

This section shows you how to setup Gmail account in Outlook. We already know that everybody loves Gmail, but there are so many people still there who are using Microsoft Outlook. If you are one of them and finding the way to setup Gmail in Outlook 2007, you have to enable POP or IMAP setting before starting the process.

What is the Difference Between POP3, IMAP, and Exchange?

Step 1: In Outlook 2007, click on "Account Settings" under "Tools" menu.

Step 2: Click on "New" option under "E-mail" tab as shown in below:

Step 3: There are two ways to setup Gmail with Outlook 2007.

  • Automatically: Just enter your Name, E-mail Address and Password and click on "Next" button to setup your account in Outlook 2007 automatically.
  • Manually: If you want to go with manual method then simply click on option labelled "Manually configure server settings or additional server types". Click on "Next" button.

Step 4: In this step, you will find three options with radio button.

  • Internet E-mail - Choose this option if you want to setup your account with Outlook as a stand alone mode.
  • Microsoft Exchnage - This option will let you allow to access your e-mail, calendar, contacts, faces and voice mail with Exchange server.
  • Other - Choose this option if you want to use other service.

Step 5: Now, fill all the fields to proceed the next step.

User Information:

  • Your Name - Enter the name which you want to show in your email message.
  • E-mail Adress - Enter E-mail addres (This is the email address for receiving your email messages and also the same email address for sending mails to others means this address will get added when they add you as a contact in their contact list.)

Server Information:

  • Account Type - In this option, you will see the drop down list where three options are avaialble POP3, IMAP and HTTP. Select the desired option that you want. In this post, we are going to setup account with POP3 email setting.
  • Incoming Mail Server - As we already discussed that this post will be added your Gmail account in Microsoft Outlook. So, simply type pop.gmail.com on this field. If you want to connect other account rather than Gmail, simply add your email service provider details as same as Gmail.
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - For Gmail account, Enter - smtp.gmail.com

Logon Information:

  • User Name: Enter full E-mail address that you wish to connect with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Password: Enter password in "Password" field, if you want to keep your Outlook safe from other uers. Now, click on check box labelled "Remember Password" and click on "More setting" option to go to the advanced settings.

Step 6: In "Outgoing Server" tab, Click on check box labelled "My outgoing server (SMTP) requirs authentication" and also select the radio button labelled "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."

Step 7: Click on "Advanced" tab and add your Incoming and Outgoing server details. As you are setting up your Gmail account therefore, click on check box labelled "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" because Google uses POP3 over an SSL connection for security purpose.

  • Set incoming Server (POP3) to "995".
  • Set Outgoing Server (SMTP) to "465".

Don't forget to see the third option where you need to select SSL connection type. It will add your Outgoing server port automatically.

Step 8: In last, click on "Finish" button and check your Outlook and click on "send/receive" button to receive the mails from your Gmail account to Outlook.
